[Verse 1]
Fm G# A# D#
Hello and welcome to the show,
Fm G# A# D#
We left our hearts back at the door.
Fm G# A# D#
Something sensational is about to happen here,
Fm G# A# D#
So rare and beautiful no one's ever seen!
Fm G# A# D#
The poster says it's the greatest show on earth,
Fm G# A# D#
And no one reads the fine print anymore. (Or alternatively: "But no one...")
Fm G# A# D#
We'll do all just to see you smile,
Fm G# A# D#
Give me applause and I will call you mine.
[Chorus]
G# D#
I am blinded by the light,
C# Fm
As bright as a sun.
G# D#
All I hear is earth-shattering sound,
C# Fm
That had drifted far.
[Bridge]
G# C#dim
And I feel, something real,
A#m Dm(maj7)
F magical emotion that has taken all control!
G# D# C#
And it's carrying me up, carrying me through,
D# Fm A#
In a shape of a sound and I give to you,
Fm A#
I give it all to you.
[Verse 2]
Fm G# A# D#
So many people on the floor,
Fm G# A# D#
It doesn't faze me anymore.
Fm G# A# D#
Something unusual happens every time, (In some versions he says "all the time".)
Fm G# A# D#
It doesn't move me, it doesn't make me cry.
Fm G# A# D#
As entertainers we put the rest to shame,
Fm G# A# D#
If you are triggered, I'm not the one to blame.
Fm G# A# D#
For the tickets we offer no returns,
Fm G# A# D#
I'll keep on singing while the planet burns.
[Chorus]
G# D#
Aren't you blinded by the light,
C# Fm
As bright as a sun?
G# D#
Can't you hear the earth-shattering sound,
C# Fm
That had drifted far?
[Bridge]
G# C#dim
And I feel, something real,
A#m Dm(maj7)
F magical emotion that has taken all control!
G# D# C#
And it's carrying me up, carrying me through,
D# Fm A#
In a shape of a sound and I give to you,
Fm A#
I give it all to you.
[Verse 3]
Fm G# A# D#
Thank you for coming to the show,
Fm G# A# D#
We'll get our hearts back at the door.
Fm G# A# D#
Something unthinkable has happened here tonight,
Fm G# A# D#
And I'm still processing the thoughts I have inside.
Fm G# A# D#
People will say it's the greatest show on Earth,
Fm G# A# D#
I can't object, I just don't have the nerve.
Fm G# A# D#
/: It's lights and mirrors and castles made of smoke,
Fm G# A# D#
They're mere distraction from what truly matters most. :/ (x2)
[Chorus]
G# D#
Aren't you blinded by the light,
C# Fm
As bright as a sun?
G# D#
Can't you hear the earth-shattering sound,
C# Fm
That had drifted far?
[Bridge]
G# C#dim
And I feel, something real,
A#m Dm(maj7)
F magical emotion that has taken all control!
G# D# C#
And it's carrying me up, carrying me through,
D# Fm A#
In a shape of a sound and I give to you,
Fm A#
I give it all to you.
Fm
I give it all to you.
ps.: I'm not quite sure about that Dm(maj7), Joe Bruno said in a stream where I asked
( [from 39:00 to 44:00] that it's either a Ddim or a Am [at 43:00],
but the unplugged version at 1:20 ( visibly doesn't fit for either.
Also, in the Quarantine Concert version he plays something very different for those lines
at 2:09:42 ( and 2:11:53 (
pps.: Whoa, I've even managed to get some input from the man himself! :)
He said that what I previously thought to be a Dbm(7b5) is more likely to be a C#dim,
but he wasn't completely sure either. :A#
